Welcome to the official website of the Southwest Austin Lacrosse Association!
The Southwest Austin Lacrosse Association (SWALA) provides opportunities for boys in the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades to learn to play lacrosse in the new premier Bowie Feeder System. Boys in the 5th and 6th grades play together in the Junior Division on one team, and boys in the 7th and 8th grade play together in the Senior Division on another team. All teams play in the Central Texas Youth Lacrosse Association. The Southwest Austin Lacrosse Association works closely with the Bowie High School Boys Lacrosse Program to provide an integrated feeder program for the high school varsity and junior varsity teams. Our coaches teach lacrosse and coach the Bowie High School Boys Lacrosse Varsity and Junior Varsity Teams.
The mantra of SWALA is and will always be "What is best for the kids?" The academic, athletic, and social growth of our players continues to be my foremost concern. SWALA will nurture players in this regard. The players who participate in SWALA will learn to play the game correctly centered around the three D's of success: discipline, dedication, and desire. The players will develop a solid core of fundamentals that will prepare them to be better lacrosse players this year and in their future as lacrosse players.
— Justin Becker, SWALA Director & Head Coach, Bowie High School Boys Lacrosse Head Coach
MISSION
The mission of SWALA is to teach and support the game of lacrosse in an environment of safety, respect, and fun. The program has several goals: (1) we strive to provide our players with the appropriate level of coaching instruction; (2) we seek to build a player's confidence in learning lacrosse skills; (3) we aspire to develop a sense of teamwork, fair play, and respect for rules, opponents, officials, teammates, and self; (4) we aim to develop character values that will benefit today's player in later years and in other endeavors. Players will learn the value of teamwork, determination, and commitment AND have a great time playing lacrosse.
